Drosophila Melanogaster:
Drosophila Melanogaster is a classic among feeder animals! The small, light, and flightless fly is highly productive and hatches at a temperature of 24°C after about 12 days. It is very popular as food for small reptiles and amphibians, such as dendrobatids, young chameleons, or geckos.
A breeding culture is delivered in a 0.5-liter cup.
The breeding cultures are inoculated with approximately 50 animals.
Please note:
During the delivery of the packages, it may happen that the packages are transported upside down. Especially in the warm months, this can cause the mash to leak and the mesh to become sticky. In this case, please replace the mesh with a piece of nylon stocking or a sheet of kitchen paper. There will still be enough larvae in the remaining mash to ensure a large yield.
ATTENTION:
The flightlessness of the Melanogaster depends on various factors during development, such as temperature, humidity, etc. Therefore, it may happen that flying specimens appear in your cup, which is NOT a reason for complaint with Melanogaster! Please open the affected container outdoors and simply let the flying specimens escape.
Do not store the Melanogaster too warm after receipt. Ideally up to about 20 degrees.
